A complete paper recycling production line include collection and sorting, pulping, screening and cleaning, refining and paper making. The entire process can be broken down into several stages.
1. Collection and Sorting:
Before the paper even enters the production line, it is collected from homes, offices, and industries. This mixed waste paper is then transported to a recycling facility where it undergoes initial manual and mechanical sorting. Contaminants like plastics, metals, and glass are removed, and the paper is often graded by type (e.g., corrugated cardboard, office paper, newsprint) to ensure the quality of the final product.
2. Paper Pulping:
The hydrapulper machine thoroughly mixes and breaks down water and waste paper, using a rotating rotor to agitate the mixture and decompose the paper into individual cellulose fibers, forming pulp.
3. Screening and Cleaning:
Screening: The pulp is forced through pressure screen with holes of various sizes and shapes to remove oversized contaminants.
Cleaning: The pulp rotates in cleaner, using centrifugal force to remove impurities.
4. Refining:
Refining: The recycled fibers are mechanically treated by passing them through a refiner. This “bruises” the fibers, creating tiny fibrils that help them bond together more strongly in the final paper sheet, enhancing its strength.
5. Paper Making: Forming the New Sheet
Forming Section: Water begins to drain away through the mesh, and the cellulose fibers start to interlock, forming a weak, wet web of paper.
Press Section: The web passes through a series of heavy rollers that squeeze out more water mechanically, consolidating the sheet and increasing its strength.
Drying Section: The now self-supporting sheet travels through a long series of steam-heated cylinders. The intense heat evaporates the remaining moisture, leaving a finished, strong roll of paper.
6. Finishing and Rolling:
Finally, the dry paper is calendared (smoothed by polished rollers) to achieve the desired surface finish. It is then wound onto giant jumbo reels at the end of the machine, known as the wind-up reel. These reels are later slit and rewound into smaller rolls or cut into sheets, ready to be shipped and converted into new products like newspapers, cardboard boxes, office paper, or tissue.
