The internal rotor rotates at high speed, generating positive pressure pulses on the screen basket to “squeeze” out the accept pulp; the negative pressure generated at the tail of the rotor draws back a small amount of water, flushing the screen holes and preventing clogging. Early internal flow systems involved pulp flowing from inside the screen basket to the outside, but the modern mainstream system is external flow (pulp flowing from the outside to the inside). This is highly beneficial for the settling of heavy impurities and effectively reduces wear on the equipment.
